Students & Parents
Can I take the Gutsy Challenge as an individual or do I need to do it with my school?
You can take the Gutsy Challenge with your school, club, group of friends or by yourself.
Can my brothers and sisters take the Challenge with me, even if they are not at school?
Yes! They can sign up and take the Challenge with you as long as they have permission from mum and dad. When prompted for a school name, they can enter their pre-school or daycare centre name.
Are children’s profiles private?
Children’s profiles may be searchable by full name by donors. Parents can choose to make their child’s profile private by selecting the ‘keep my child’s profile private’. The only way a donor can find your child’s profile once it is private is if you send them the link. Student’s profiles are automatically private unless they opt to make their profile not private.
What do I do if someone sponsors me with cash or a cheque?
Your sponsors will need to sponsor you through the website using a credit card. If this is not possible, please use this sponsorship form to record your donations and send the final amount you have raised to us by cheque or through direct deposit. Please follow the instructions on the sponsorship form or you will not be credited for you donation and will not receive your prize.
Do I have to fundraise?
Fundraising is not compulsory, however we highly recommend asking family and friends to sponsor you – even just a few dollars will help motivate you to reach your 2 fruit and 4 veg targets each day. Plus you can win cool prizes if you fundraise.
What happens if I don’t eat all of my fruit & veg each day?
The Gutsy Challenge runs on an honesty system. We trust all of the Gutsy Challengers to record only the fruit and veg that they consume. It is up to you to tell your sponsors how you perform. The prizes are linked to money that you raise, not the food that you eat.
How do I win prizes?
You win prizes by achieving fundraising targets. You can find these targets here.
How do I claim my prize?
At the end of your Challenge you will be sent an email letting you know which prize you are eligible for. You can only claim one prize. The email will include instructions on how to claim your prize.
How long will it take for my prize to be sent to me?
Once you have claimed your prize online it will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks for your prize to arrive by mail.
Do I need to record my fruit and veg online?
It is not compulsory, but we encourage you to record your eating online. You can also download a Fridge Flyer to print out and stick on the fridge to record food eaten that way.
I don’t have much internet access, can I still take the Challenge?
You will need to sign up online initially, however you do not need a lot of internet access to take the Gutsy Challenge. Once you log on, download and print out the ‘food record sheet’ to help you record food offline. You can then update your online profile next time you are online.
Can I change my fundraising target?
Yes, once you log in online, you can change your fundraising target in the preferences area of your dashboard.
Can I do the Gutsy Challenge twice in one year?
You can take it as many times as you like!
My whole family wants to do the Gutsy Challenge, can we all do it online?
Yes, everyone can register online as students or parents.
How do I receive information about the Gutsy Challenge?
When you register online for the Gutsy Challenge, you’ll be able to log in and download our teaching resources which include Take-Home Letters for parents, Posters, Fridge Flyers and Info Kit.
Our school can’t afford to print out the flyers and posters, can you send me some?
Please contact us and we will see what we can arrange for you.
Do we need to take the Gutsy Challenge as a whole school, or can just one class take the Challenge?
It is entirely up to you how you wish to take the Gutsy Challenge – as a whole school, individual class, sporting group etc.
How do schools claim prizes?
At this stage prizes are awarded to individuals who fundraise through the website. We are working towards securing a prize for the school that raises the most money in 2012. We will keep you updated.
Our school held an in-school fundraiser – how do I send a cheque?
Teachers only may send in a cheque, all individual fundraising must be done through the website. Once your Gutsy Challenge completion date has been reached, you will receive an email with details about how to send your cheque in.
I can’t see all of my students when I log in?
Students may have misspelt the school name incorrectly when signing up. Contact us and we’ll help connect you with them.
How do teachers from different classes at the same school sign up?
Each teacher can register their class by themselves, or one teacher may register on behalf of all the classes participating. The students are linked by the school name.
